If you are in need of sharp clipper blades, please consider my sharpening business FB page @ SHEAR Genius – Alan Smith. My website is www.sheargeniusalansmith.com. 1. What do you charge to sharpen?
New sharpening fees: blades received on August 1, 2025 and thereafter, I will increase my rates to the following: Most blades will be raised to $9/set. However, Lister Wizard blades will be $15/set. If you accidentally send any Andis Blue Ribbon blades, they will be $20.
2. Is there a form to fill out?
No, but please place a note in the package with your name, address, phone number and email address. If you ship UPS, they will use their own return address unless you tell them to use yours. If you have a date that you need them back by, list it as well and I will do my best. It helps to meet your deadline if I know when it is, you send them well in advance and send them clean. I will text when your package arrives and email an invoice when finished. USE PLENTY OF PACKING TAPE!
3. What is your mailing address?
Alan Smith
506 S. Oak Grove Rd
Cushing, OK 74023
4. How do I pay?
When finished, I will email a copy of the invoice for the amount due plus return shipping back to you. I require payment before shipping, so electronic payment will get your blades back to you faster. If you wish, you can send me a check or money order, with prior approval. I also accept Venmo, PayPal or CashApp, as well as credit cards. Please remit within 10 days. Clients must pay before your equipment is returned to you.
5. How do I get my blades to you?
If you want to ship them to me, it is easy. Most of my clients prefer USPS Priority Mail. Simply go to a post office and select a box or envelope that best fits the blades you are sending me. Their boxes are “If it fits, it ships”. Most of the Flat Rate boxes are $10.65 or $19.15 and ships anywhere in the continental US for that price. Please do not leave “unused space” in the box, because blades can be broken in shipment. I ask that you text or message me when you mail them, and I will do the same to you when I receive them and return them.
If you live near Cushing, OK and want to bring them to me, you can.
6. What types of blades can you sharpen?
I can do most any blade from Andis, Oster, Premier, and Lister. I can even sharpen those with a ceramic cutter that most cannot do. I do not sharpen Andis Blue Ribbon and Wahl “5 in 1” blade. I cannot sharpen hand shears or hoof trimmers, either. See my instructional videos on my website about “ My favorite hoof trimmers and sharpeners”. I also cannot do scissors. If you question what I will/will not sharpen, just shoot me a picture of it.
7. What is your average turnaround time?
I am currently way behind usual, but the usual time is approximately within 10 working days of receiving them. Weekends and Holidays may affect that. However! I am currently swamped and behind by about 4 weeks. If you need them back within a certain amount of time, you MUST CALL ME or list it on your note inside the box. I will not “RUSH” any back to you if they are dirty. A “Rush Fee” may apply. You can save me time by cleaning them yourself. I will notify you when I receive them and when they go back in the mail.
8. Do you sell blades and clippers?
I do sell blades, both new and used and occasionally have clippers for sale. PM me for availability.
9. Do you repair clippers?
Do not send clippers/ shears until I am caught up! I am the sharpener as well as the repairman. Even then we must visit about the issue first. Priority is given to sharpening blades.
10. Is there a cleaning fee?
If you send dirty blades that need cleaning expect a cleaning fee. That amount will vary according to the number of dirty blades and how long it takes me to clean them, usually $35 per hour. And rusty or oxidized blades will be accessed a cleaning fee, or totally refused to be sharpened.
